The mission statement of The Jackson County School District is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that is conducive to learning. All students have the opportunity to obtain a quality education and the skills essential to achieve the goals they choose and for themselves, and to become responsible, productive citizens. The district is subdivided into three attendance centers: East Central Schools, St. Martin Schools, and Vancleave Schools.
East Central Schools provide education for Wade, MS, and Hurley, MS with an upper and lower elementary, a middle school and a high school.
St. Martin Schools provide education for St Martin’s three elementary, 1 middle, and 1 high school.
Vancleave Schools support 2 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 1 high school. The mission of Vancleave schools is to maintain very high standards in the quest to educate all their students to their fullest potential in all areas of their education in a safe and nurturing environment.
Moss Point School District has one high school, and six elementary schools. The district leadership has a goal of providing relevant education by making a connection between learning and life experiences.
Ocean Springs School District offers students a nurturing atmosphere where each student has the opportunity to receive instruction from the best available educators.
Pascagoula School District was established in 1912. The Pascagoula School District is located between the cities of Gulfport and Biloxi, MS, and Mobile, AL. The District educates 7,500 students in Pascagoula and Gautier. The district is committed to a standard of excellence that prepares students for productive lives beyond graduation by creating a culture that encourages and expects success. The district has 19 elementary schools (K-5), middle schools (6-8), high schools (9-12), as well as specialty schools. The district and staff have received state and national recognition for its quality of education.
There is also a community college, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and a four-year university, University of Southern Mississippi. The MS Gulf Coast Community College provides a quality, affordable education opportunity for students whose interest range from fine arts to technology to commerce.
Also located on the same campus is the University of Southern Mississippi which offers an extension program for bachelor’s degrees to students who don’t need to attend the traditional classroom environment. It also offers the local workforce and residents an opportunity for continuing education. The campus also serves as a community cultural center, bringing the community together for entertainment and social events.
